There are a lot of Filipinos nowadays who are living in the United Kingdom. Some are there for work, while others are staying in the UK for their studies. Apart from these reasons, some of them are in the UK living permanently with their spouses. There is a good number of Filipino citizens who are currently residing together with their partners in the UK holding a spousal visa. If you are one of the many Filipinos wondering how to get a spousal visa, here are a few things that you should remember.
For starters, you must show that:
• You and your partner are of legal age (18 years old) on the date of your application.
• Your partner does not have the same bloodlines to you – not your relative.
• Both of you have met in person.
• The relationship that you both have is genuine.
• If you are married or in a civil relationship, it has to be valid in the UK law.
• You have to meet the suitability requirements.
• Both of you have intentions in living permanently in the UK.
• You meet the financial requirements. (The way you meet this requirement will be different, depending on whether you are applying from inside or outside the UK.)
• You meet the English language requirement. You will meet this requirement if you (1) are a national of an English-speaking country, (2) have passed an English language test appropriate to your level, ad (3) hold a degree that was taught in English and is equivalent to a UK bachelor’s degree or above. For Filipinos, taking an English language test is most appropriate. Filipinos take the IELTS o r the International English Language Testing System examination. Applicants need to get an overall band score of 4 in the General Training module.
In your application, you must need the following documents:
• Two recent photographs and a valid passport
• An evidence of you and your partner’s age
• Your marriage or civil partnership certificate
• Evidence that you are both free to marry or enter in a civil relationship
• Evidence that you have personally met
• Evidence of your English language ability – an IELTS certification which is still valid
• Evidence that you have met the financial requirements
It is best for those applicants to meet the requirements earlier for processing can take time. For more information on the documents and financial requirements stated by the UK Border agency, you can visit their website at http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration.
Thanks for sharing these requirements! I am hoping to fulfill all the requirements on my wife's UK Marriage Visa.
